CA23149:
Comparing Anti-Gender Politics in CEE and NME countries (Antigender-Politics)
COST Action (CA23149) aims to promote a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of anti-gender politics as a growing challenge to democracy, equality and fundamental rights in Europe. By analysing how anti-gender actors, discourses and policies challenge democratic institutions and frameworks for social justice, this Action provides critical and historically grounded insights into the political, social and cultural transformations that are reshaping contemporary Europe.
The aim is to establish a collaborative, interdisciplinary network that critically examines the emergence and impact of anti-gender politics across Europe. It seeks to promote comparative, intersectional and cross-sectoral analyses of anti-gender movements and their implications for democratic governance.
By fostering dialogue between researchers, policymakers and civil society, the Action pursues the following objectives:
- Analysing the political, social and cultural dynamics driving anti-gender movements in the regions of Central and Eastern Europe as well as Northern and Central Europe.
- Comparing national and regional responses to these movements in order to identify patterns and differences.
- Developing evidence-based recommendations to strengthen democratic institutions and promote gender equality.
- Empowering civil society organisations and activists to effectively address anti-gender rhetoric and policies.
